French 75

Effervescent and refreshing with a sharp botanical edge, the French 75 is the ultimate celebratory cocktail. While it was originally served in a highball glass, modern versions are more commonly presented in a champagne flute. Its name pays homage to the French army’s 75-millimetre light field gun, famed during World War I for its power and precision. Initially called “Soixante-Quinze” (seventy-five), the cocktail embodies the same strength and sophistication as its namesake artillery. This historical connection, paired with its timeless appeal, secures its place as a classic favourite in the cocktail world.
